Cool ^_^

This very bad

flaax responds:

I agree :D

This was made in LMMS? Impressive. Just, "limiting" yourself like that. Hee hee. get it? Very "in character" of an LMMS author to post a 10 page manual about their song. But... but some parts are empty-handed! Whenever the strings drop, the track eats it a little bit. It climbs up here and there and I'd rather just see it incorporated into the drop as being part of the main element. The time changes are also a hodge-podge of inflated convolution done right. But why? Maybe LMMS made you do it...

Kysertron responds:

I've tried the string-drop combination before here: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/918959

I'll try to keep the string-drop combo in mind so I can do it again in the near future. I'm not that well making them since I use the strings as backgrounds most of the time (usually in the latter parts of drops).

Most of the stuff you mentioned was intentional, although the strings were not much so...
Also, I like how you used the term "limiting", which actually brings up a great point. Beside the "limiting" without the use of a limiter (I try to not use one since it makes my music overcompressed), I use "limiting" in reference to themes... a lot (as you can see in this song).

Sure, LMMS has its quirks, but I don't see it as a very limiting DAW by any means. In the right hands, you could do LOADS of stuff with it. Check out this song made by LMMS: https://soundcloud.com/ptchwrkmusic/blossom

Also, I've used LMMS for so long, I find it difficult to settle into another DAW (I tried Ableton in 2018, I felt like I had just started music again).

One of the few songs where I'm pretty familiar with one or two of the samples used, and it's mashed up pretty well, at that.

Monoliph responds:

Thank you I tried to make it more interesting! I believe It was the EDM starter pack from Cymatics (don't quote me).

This track is really good in comparison to the beginning of this self imposed trial by fire
Speaking of which, two songs left, eh? I'm on the edge of my seat.

The melody etc is really smooth and nice to hear a layered progressive melody once in a while. The structure lacks polish but I think it as more of a jam piece.

I like it, but bass needs riddim. no biggie though. Well, forget it. The main notes sound really good though, must be some expensive preset plugin I'd assume. Also the title makes me think you tried to get a name out of the lead note, or just tryna say Squack in a cool way, but I think squack sounds cool as is :> This says scare quack but there's nothin really scary about it. besides that it ends on 3:57 like the revolver get it? heeeee I'll see myself out, in the corner over there.

Its nice, very ambient, a lot of details where most people wouldn't notice, whole track is a little quiet, hard to focus on anything specific, but it is okay for background music :D

Iosun responds:

thank you! i replaced my laptop since the last song and didn't want to go through the process of putting it through Ozone, which is why it ended up quiet. Will probably replace the track once I've mastered it proper

Bruh. It's kool. I got invincible studio headphones.

Just a suggestion to lower the compression and you could get away with ridiculous amounts of distortion.

NoStereo responds:

Oh definitely, but I wanted it to be at least a little controlled haha
